Primark a/w lookbook
Check out these looks from Primark's autumn/winter collection! Most garments will be in stores in September. They're expecting a cold winter, if you look at all those garments with fake fur. I love the look with the blouse, shorts and lace booties. The black dress with gold embellished shoulders looks great too. Cheap never looked this good!
More outfits from Gossip Girl season 4
Curious what the Gossip Girl cast is going to wear next season? Here's a bunch of sneak peek pics for you to check out!

Is Joe faux real?
Watch what happens when Creative Director of Elle Magazine (USA) Joe Zee takes Chanel’s abominable snowman costume (with fake fur!) for a spin through New York City on a particularly hot summer day.
Hysterical! I love Joe Zee, I laughed my ass off watching this!
Man: "Isn't that hot in there?" Joe: "No, it's Chanel." Man: "It's Chanel, what..?" Joe: "It's designer, from the runways of Paris." Man: "That shit is hot, son! You're bakin' in there!" Joe: "It's hot in a good waaay!"
Olivia Palermo shoot in ASOS magazine
Socialite and 'The City' star Olivia Palermo is on the cover of August issue ASOS magazine. While the cover photo isn't looking very appealing to me, the photos and the outfits inside are gorgeous! More pics after the jump!

Mango fall(s) for Scarlett, again..
Spanish retailer Mango has once again chosen actress Scarlett Johansson to star in their campaign. And once again, she did a great job doing the shoot. It certainly makes me want to purchase. More pics after the jump!

Kristin Cavallari at the Salt premiere
Check out this dress by 'The Blonds' that Kristin Cavallari (The Hills) wore to the LA premiere of Angelina Jolie's new movie 'Salt'. I'm so into shoulder embellishments lately, so you can probably guess why I love this dress. Those spikes and chains look fierce! You won't catch me walking around with that amount of cleavage though, that's just way over the top for me.

Fall ads
The fall ads start flowing in! Which ones will succeed in capturing the heart of the consumer and contribute to the image of the brand and which ones will fail in doing this? What's your favorite?
AIFW: Roparosa
Last Sunday, Project Catwalk 2010 winner Roos van der Kamp showed her third Roparosa collection 'Come out and play'. Being able to show her collection at AIFW was one of the prizes of the competition. Roos searched for inspiration in forms and materials that are used in functional sportswear and she aims for comfortable power dressing: playful, independent and feminine. The SS11 collection is a sequel of earlier collections 'Catch as Catch Can part I and II.
AIFW: Conny Groenewegen
Unlike other designers, Conny Groenewegen showed her 'Request for landing' collection outside of the Westergasfactory. The guests were asked to put on headphones, kind of like a silent disco. The models were standing in front of them, wrapped up in plastic. As the music started, they slowly started to move and free themselves from their cocoons. You've probably guessed it already; this collection was based on the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. We saw knitted jackets, raw knitted details, metallic bodysuits, butterfly sleeves and earthtones mixed with pastels.

AIFW: Daryl van Wouw
Daryl van Wouw really surprised a lot of people on Saturday when he showed his new collection at AIFW. He's known for his streetwear, but this time he chose a completely different style from what we're used to. For this collection, he got his inspiration from the videoclip of the song 'Paradise Circus' from Massive Attack, and Shanghai, where he currently lives. He named it 'Lovely weird world'.
AIFW: Dagmar
Last week Swedish label Dagmar showed for the first time during Amsterdam Fashion Week. Dagmar’ clothes usually are inspired by the Art Deco period of the twenties/thirties. Moving images, architecture, art, music and dance often are an inspiration for the collections too. For this collection, named 'Goddess of the favela', the sisters got their inspiration from rawness of the Brazilian slums in Rio de Janeiro contrasted with the beauty of nature.

AIFW: MC by Monique Collignon
On Friday, couturier Monique Collignon showed her new line MC by Monique Collignon. The new line is classic with a twist, overall very elegant and feminine designs. Some dresses with ruches, but also feminine power looks. Apart from black, beige and white, there were also touches of blue and some animal prints.
AIFW: Frans Molenaar prijs 2010
Seven young & talented designers showed their skills during the Frans Molenaar award show on Friday. They all presented five of their looks on the runway. The contestants were Hyun Yeu, Piotrek Panszczyk, Tischya Oedit, Fred Farrow, Ratna Ho, Marie Burlot and Denise Esser. A jury of three fashion professionals chose Fred Farrow as the winner of the Frans Molenaar award. They thought his collection was very new, beautifully made and had lots of nice details.
AIFW: Red Rail
Last Friday, The Red Rail showed a collection of clothes which you can buy by giving your blood for the next half year. After that the clothes will be presented in the Young Designers United store in Amsterdam. With this project, the Red Rail wants to create awareness about Leukemia patients that can be helped by donating blood. 18 Designers created an unique outfit with the support of Dutch designer Claes Iversen and Angelika Groenendijk Wasylewski from Young Designers United. Together they created 20 different looks for men and women.

AIFW: Lichting 2010
For Lichting 2010, 7 Dutch acadamies sent their 2 best designers to present their graduation collections during AIFW. An international jury had to pick who had the best collection. This year, it was Marije de Haan who convinced the audience with her meanswear collection called 'Flatliners'. The collection was inspired by crimescene photography at the beginning of the 19th century.
AIFW: Marloes Blaas
Designer Marloes Blaas presented her first summercollection at AIFW last week. Like Franciscus van der Meer, she also used WWII as an inpiration, but she mainly focused on the peasant life of that period and the atmosphere surrounding the liberation of the war.
AIFW: Individuals by AMFI
This year, the INDIVIDUALS show of the Amsterdam International Fashion Institute (AMFI) was named 'Some dream of running away to the circus'. Individuals is an ever changing collective of young creative designers. By combining talent every time an inspiring story is told. Every generation adds it’s own unique chapter to the continuing story of Individuals.
Miu Miu dress stars on 3 August covers
Have you ever gone through a lot of trouble finding the perfect dress to go to a party and then find out someone else is wearing exact the same one? Oh, the horror! That's exactly what happened with a Miu Miu dress from the fall '10 collection. It happens to be on the August covers of not two, but three (!) major glossy magazines at the same time!
AIFW: Oda Pausma
On Thursday, newly graduate Oda Pausma presented her 'Hobohemian Heaven' collection. It was based on the fusion of two worlds: poetical and rebellion. Where the poet cared for constructed folds, the rebel added a twist like pants and skirts where the hip has been pushed forward. The clothing was inspired on the 'Chelsea Hotel' in New York in the seventies. The only colors that were used are white, black and some yellow accents.

AIFW: Franciscus van der Meer
Franciscus van der Meer got so fascinated by the holocaust when he read 'The Diary of Anne Frank', that he decided to create a collection around it. He used the concept of oppression vs freedom: a lot of black, coats cut in half, held together by suede belts and a stripe that fades away, reminiscent of that camp-uniform…
"I tried to put a new, or different, light on a terrible part of our history. This medium has the power to communicate within a human scale, in an individual way, in a way that hopefully creates more understanding between people and their communities," explained van der Meer.
AIFW: MarryMe-JimmyPaul
Designers Marie Burlot and Jimmy Paul seemed to have a lot of fun making this collection and it looks like they didn't take themselves too seriously if you listen at the false version of Britneys 'Gimme more' soundtrack that was playing.
The collection was inspired by JonBenet Ramsay and told the story about going to school for the first time. It felt more like a trip to Barbieland to me though. They used a lot of pink, glitters, fake fur, feathers and crowns. Not very wearable if you ask me, but definitely fun to look at.
AIFW: Une petite robe NOIRE
Designer Indra Welman wanted to honor the little black dress (LBD) and decided to create an whole collection around the iconic piece, called 'Une petite robe NOIRE'. Yet not all the models were black from head to toe. A green top and two beige dresses with black accents came by too. Welman used embellishments like paillettes, fringes and ruches to create different versions of the LBD.

AIFW: Nicolaas
Project Catwalk participant Nicolaas had his first own fashion show at AIFW on Thursday. There, he presented his 'Edge' collection, which he designed for the edgy woman whom he calls 'a hot mess'.
Material Girl Taylor Momsen
Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen is officially named as the face of 'Material girl', the line which Madonna and her daughter Lourdes created for Macy's..

AIFW: Iris van Herpen
The second show on the openingsoiree of AIFW was Iris van Herpen. She showed a small preview of her s/s 2011 collection, which will be fully shown at London Fashion Week in September. Her 'Crystallization' collection is based on the transformation of water into crystal where the designer has taken the process from liquid chaos to a hard structure as a starting point.

AIFW: SIS by Spijkers & Spijkers
Yesterday, the 13th edition of Amsterdam International Fashion Week got kicked of by SIS, the new clothing line from the Spijkers & Spijkers sisters. Great debut for a new label I must say. I'm totally loving the floaty dresses and blue blazers!

River Island fall/winter 2010 lookbook
Here's the lookbook of one of the British retailers I anxiously await to open up a store in Belgium, River Island! When their Antwerp store opens in September, you'll be able to find these looks waiting for you!
AIFW: Ready to Fish_
On Monday, Dutch designer Ilja Visser showed her new Ready To Fish_ collection for s/s 2011 called 'Opposites attract'. And the show really was all about contrasts; from really feminine clothes to some androgynous looks and from prints to nudes to dark colors. The collection has elegant silk tops and dresses combined with tight cut pants and assymmetrical jackets. I love how the trendy clothes were made out of carefully picked fabrics that made them look very comfortable.

Gossip Girl season 4 sneak peek!
It's time for a fashion update on one of my favorite tv-shows at the moment, Gossip Girl! Currently the cast is in Paris shooting season 4. Model Lou Doillon is said to make an appearance on the show this fall and the one and only Karl Lagerfeld (!) is rumored to star as well! We'll just have to wait and see.. In the meantime, let's take a look at some of the fashionable outfits Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) are going to wear in season 4. Enjoy the pics!

Kate Moss for Longchamp: second round
Kate did good with her bag collection for Longchamp last season. Now she's back with another one for this fall. It's the second collaboration between Moss and Longchamp's Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine. The collection is inspired by the 70's and uses a mixture of leathers including zebra lining and imitation crocodile.
The Body Shop: Baked to Last
The Body Shop has a yummy looking new make-up collection called 'Baked to Last'. The collection has duo eyeshadows, blushes and bronzers which are baked in the oven on terracotta plates instead of being pressed. This process provides more intense colours on the skin and leave a nice shimmery finish. You can find the products in The Body Shop near you.

Mango fall/winter pics
I've got a truckload of Mango items prepared for you. Some of the summer trends will still be very 'it' this autumn if you look at this collection: animal prints, military influences, prints, big & bold jewellry.. I think the accessories turned out great. I love the white handbag, very Chanel. The heart shaped earrings are very cute too. I think I'll have to pay Mango a little visit!

Lindsay Lohan's nail art
Lilo has done it again. This time it's a 90-day prison sentence for violating the terms of her probation (which was going to alcohol education classes weekly) *Oops!* But why all the fuss about the 'f*ck you' written on Lindsay Lohan's middle fingernail? Spite from the f-word, I think her rainbow tie-dye nails look amazing! Want it!

Chanel short film: Shopping Fever
Seems like Karl Lagerfeld can't get enough of shooting short films. After his short film debut 'Remember Now', he now released 'Shopping Fever', to honor the new autumn/winter 2010 pre-collection. The film shows Abbey Lee Kershaw and Dree Hemingway getting back to their hotel from a huge Chanel shopping spree. Male model Baptiste Giabiconi also stars as a bellboy.

Jessica Alba in Christian Dior
Oh, how I love the Christian Dior flower dress Jessica Alba wore to the Christian Dior Couture Fall 2010 fashion show. The bustier floral dress combined with a golden-colored belt that compliments her waist and a pair of white pumps made the Hollywood beauty look absolutely stunning!

New Look fall/winter lookbook
Here's what British retailer New Look has to offer you this fall/winter. The collection is expected to be in stores by the end of July. I love how this collection turned out to be really girly with its wavy dresses and skirts and that a lot of light colors were used. It kind of brightens up a cold winters day. What do you think?

Miu Miu fall/winter 2010 campaign
The Miu Miu fall/winter 2010 ad campaign features models Siri Tollerod, Ginta Lapina, Daphne Groeneveld and Lindsey Wixson. Thanks to the make up, they almost look like sisters! And it seems like they had a good time doing the shoot. This campaign captures the spirit of the Miu Miu girl perfectly. She's young at heart, loves to have fun and she's fearless in her choices. And that's how we like it!

Burberry launches makeup line
It was only a matter of time before Burberry would launch it's own cosmetics collection, but this week it finally happened! Burberry Beauty was born. It took them 2 years, but the result is a great collection that delivers a light, natural look. The collection consists of foundation, powder, bronzer, lipstick and eye shadow and has Burberry written all over it thanks to it's signature on the metal packaging and embossed in the product itself.
The line is not yet available in the Benelux, but you can buy it through Nordstrom.
Dutch translation:
Burberry Beauty is geboren.

Anna dello Russo's closet
Anna dello Russo is an Italian powerwoman who works for the Japanese Vogue as a fashion director and is one of the most photographed people during Fashion Week. She wears designeroutfits exactly as shown on the catwalk, wears them only once and stores them in an appartment in Milan, where she hardly even stays. If only I had a designercloset like that.. what a waste.. *sigh*
Dutch translation:
*zucht*
Alexander McQueen resort 2011 by Sarah Burton
This is Sarah Burton's first full womenswear collection since she became the creative director at Alexander McQueen and I have to say, she did a great job! Although his amazing work can never be equaled (the inspiration of this mastermind seemed to be endless), she is a wonderful successor for the brand.
